Contractors for a Siberian Railway Station Underpay Their Subs
Heads of 13 construction firms sent a letter to Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin and Krasnoyarsk Territory Governor Alexander Khloponin saying that BSK-27, the general contractor for a new railway station in Krasnoyarsk, has not paid subcontractors for the job done. The contractor owes the total of 80 million rubles for its subs. In contrast, the general director of BSK-27 claims that it is Russian Railways that owes them 75.4 rubles.
Heads of the companies which are bulding a new railways station in the city of Krasnoyarsk sent a letter to Vladimir Yakunin and Alexander Khloponin informing that BSK-27, general contractor of the project, did not settle accounts with their partners. The arrears amount to 80 million, the letter runs.
BSK-27 is a subsidiary of Baltic Construction Company which fills major orders of Russian Railways. The annual turnover of BSK-27 is some 50 billion rubles.
Crisis-ridden subcontractors report that they have borrowed heavily and still owe salaries for their employees because of BSK’s default in payment. Director of Sibstroy, a subcontractor of the project said that his company would not sue BSK-27. Another subcontractor, Lesna, claimed went to court claiming 15 million rubles. The arbitration ruled in their favor but bailiffs failed to locate the general director of BSK-27 Gennady Sivolobov, and the matter stopped at that.
Kommersant managed to find Gennady Sivolobov in Moscow who said that he was on a business trip in the Russian capital. The top executive insists that Krasnoyarsk-based office of Russian Railways did not pay his company 75.4 million rubles. BSK-27 filed a lawsuit against Russian Railways with the Moscow Court of Arbitration, he said.
