Ovechkin Gains Scores
Tuesday was a day of the 15th NHL match for Alex Ovechkin of Russia. His Washington Capitals lost to Toronto Maple Leafs 4-6, but the former star of Dynamo scored another double and was acknowledged the best player of the game. To-date, Ovechkin has scored 12 goals, including five doubles, – the result unmatched by any NHL freshman for a dozen and a half years already.
For Ovechkin, Toronto match was the first after the meeting with chief coach of Russia’s national team Vladimir Krikunov, who is in the United States now, talking to the candidates for Turin Olympic Games.

On November 8, Washington Capitals prevailed vs. Toronto Maple Leafs at first, having ended the first period at 2-0, including Ovechkin’s goal. But the hosts recovered and in the second period and took the lead in the third one. Ovechkin hit his second goal at the score of 2-5, when Toronto’s Nikolay Antropov was out of the game.

By beginners’ scores, Alex Ovechkin still loses to Canadian Sidney Crosby from Pittsburgh Penguins, who has 19 (5 goals and 15 effective changeovers) after 15 games, but Crosby is far behind Ovechkin in goal number. Ovechkin sticks to the Grand Master’s schedule and is targeted at 65 goals by the end of the season.
