Daughter of Russia-Belarus State Secretary to Be Arrested for Laundering
The prosecutors of Italian Trento, have issued writs against eight Russians on Mabetex charges. Among the persons accused of corrupt practices and nearly $63-million laundering are former head of state-run Rosvooruzhenie Yevgeny Ananiev, Yekaterina Siletskaya, who is the daughter of today’s state secretary of Russia-Belarus Union Pavel Borodin, and relatives of former head of the RF State Customs Committee Anatoly Kruglov. All of them could be now arrested in any country of the European Union.
Two years ago, Italian prosecutors focused on laundering of revenues illegally derived in time of the Kremlin reconstruction in late 1990’s, Trento prosecutor Stefano Dragone specified yesterday, November 8, 2005. The investigators spotted huge money transfers to an account with Vigo di Fasa branch of Raiffeisen opened in the name of Olga Beltsova, former de facto wife of former head of Rosvooruzhenie Yevgeny Ananiev. According to Dragone, Ananiev laundered $2.7 million entered into that account. Overall, the persons on remand managed to launder as much as $62.52 billion taken in bribes in exchange for the Kremlin construction contracts.

“It is a blatant and stupidly concocted political order aimed at discrediting the Union of Russia and Belarus,” Borodin’s briefer Ivan Makushok quoted his chief as saying. The fact that the daughter of the state secretary was named among the Russians to be arrested “outraged Pavel Borodin, and he intends to go to law… The attacks on Mr Borodin and acts of provocation usually start before real steps for bringing together Russia and Belarus. This time, [they commenced] on the eve of the referendum on the Constitutional Act of the Union State.”
