Ramzan Kadyrov Proclaims Presidential Program
First Vice Premier of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov lashed out at the team of today’s president of the republic – Alu Alkhanov. The experts say the abrupt statements of Kadyrov signal he has dug up the hatchet to take up presidency next year.
At the news conference held in his home town, Gudermes, Kadyrov started with the most excruciating problem - unreasonable chase of Chechens everywhere in Russia, and pledged to protect the fellow-countrymen. Once the promise was made, Kadyrov focused on activities of Russian policemen in Chechnya, saying it is high time for him to take the counter-terrorist operation under his own control. In the end, Kadyrov slated all ministers of Alkhanov’s Cabinet and suggested the president draw conclusion.
So far, only one man in Chechnya could have made the statements that would be so hash. It was the late president of the republic Akhmat Kadyrov, who was killed in the terror act in May 2004. In Grozny, they say the Gudermes speech of Ramzan Kadyrov signals he has started election campaign. “No one doubts Ramzan Kadyrov will become president in a year,” a source with Chechen government said on condition of anonymity.
Pursuant to Chechen Constitution, only a person of at least 30 years of age can become the president of Chechnya. Ramzan Kadyrov will be 30 next year.
