Chita Region Hit by Mongolian Snow
The cyclone that arrived from Mongolia is on the Chita Region, Russia. Started past Friday, heavy snow showers didn’t cease Saturday and Sunday. Having damaged power lines, the snow caused blackout in some districts of the region and blocked traffic of the TransBaikal railway with trains delayed by eight hours as of yesterday.
Although Russian Railways president Vladimir Yakunin and RAO UES CEO Anatoly Chubais set up a joint working group to fight the Act of God consequences, no repairs could start because of the violent wind exacerbated by heavy rain mixed with snow.
The crop is under the mantle of one-meter slush. According to local administration, the damages have reached roughly 11 million rubles taken for Petrovsk-TransBaikal District separately, where as much as 1,222.2 hectares of wheat, 666.75 hectares of oats and 14 hectares of annual plants are under the snow slush now.
