Lebedev Punished for Rudeness
Platon Lebedev’s lawyers went to authorities of Matrosskya Tishina Detention Facility yesterday, in an attempt to find out why their client had been moved to the lockup for a week. The reporters were told Lebedev had been punished for rudeness to prison’s personnel.
Moved from Matrosskaya Tishina’s hospital not long ago, Group MENATEP CEO Platon Lebedev had to leave the mass cell for a lockup Thursday. Lebedev said he had been punished for refusing the prison walks.

“We have not seen any document to the effect and are unaware who has made that decision and what the actual reasons were,” Lebedev’s lawyer Yevgeny Baru told Kommersant, surprised at the given reason of transition. “Because of the health, Lebedev has seldom gone for walks before, as there are no benches in the yard to take a seat during them. Besides, he did without walks during 11 months of court trial with no sanctions at all,” the lawyer said.

“Lebedev has been moved to the lockup because of the rudeness to detention personnel,” Yury Kalinin, director of the Federal Punishment Execution Service, told the reporters yesterday. “He has been reprimanded before and it is the obligate end to his conduct,” the official pointed out.
