Sharapova Makes Her Way in Life
Maria Sharapova may become Russia’s first tennis player at the top of the WTA rating. Maria, who has been named one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World, needs to win in Berlin to be the No. 1 tennis player.
In Berlin, the No. 1 seed Sharapova is in the limelight. Maria, who has been named by People as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World may become the world’s top in tennis. Maria starts from the 2nd round and is well expected to advance to the quarters. Northing short of a miracle could make Maria lose to Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany. But in the quarter finals, Maria will have to oppose Justine Henin-Hardenne of Belgium, who has completely recovered from injury and won two tournaments running. In personal meetings, Maria leads only 1:0. Besides Maria has won on the hard courts, while the Berline tournament in held on the clay and none of the nine titles owned by Maria has been taken on the clay.
If Maria gets though the quarters, she may face Svetlana Kuznetsova in the half. Kuznetsova knows how to play against Sharapova. She has won twice from her, though Maria has two victories as well.
Still Maria, who is the No. 1 seed in Berlin has all chances to become the No. 1 in tennis if she wins the tournament.
In Rome, Marat Safin of Russia defeated Czech Jiri Novak 6:7 (3:7), 6:1, 6:1 in the Masters tournament.
