Russians First in Skating Duets
Russian figure skating sports duets Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin and Maria Petrova and Alexey Tikhonov won the gold and silver medals in the 2005 World Figure Skating Championship in Moscow, March 16, 2005.
Dan Zhang and Hao Zhang were awarded bronze medal. The unquestionable favorite in men’s singles Evgeny Plyushchenko announced he wouldn’t perform the free program.
Plyushchenko’s coach appeared late Wednesday, when the journalists were leaving after the news conference. “After another anasthetic injection, Zhenia feels sick, the eruption appeared on his chest. Please, understand and don’t condemn us,” Mishin told Kommersant. "He can skate, but can’t win, said Mishin when asked whether Evgeny will be able to perform in the highly prestigious Collins tour.
