Communists Ask for Money
The press service of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation released a statement by the presidium of its central committee signed by party leader Gennady Zyuganov appealing to the citizens of Russia to provide it with financial assistance. “Russia and the world have entered into a stretch of new and severe trials,” the statement reads. “The fate of every Russian, no matter where he lives or what he does, depends on how well and accurately we are able to overcome them.” The Communists “foresaw this crisis” long ago and “warned of its unavoidability,” it added.
The party is preparing to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Lenin Komsomol, “the party’s militant assistant.” On November 7, the anniversary of the Russian Revolution of 1917, party members will take to the streets “of cities and villages to confirm the correctness of the Great October ideals.” Ninety-three representatives of leftist and workers’ parties throughout the world have been invited to the party congress that will take place that month.
“Implementing those plans requires considerable funds. Some of them have already been collected, some with your direct help,” the statement reads. Nonetheless, the party is counting on receiving still more support. “We believe in the triumph of socialist principles,” the statement assured its readers, “the surety for which is your support of the party whose name in the Communist Party of the Russian Federation! Together we will win!”
On the party’s website, there are instructions for contributing money directly to the party’s account in Uralsib Bank. The party made an appeal for money earlier this week as well, to help leader Zyuganov pay Kemerovo Region Governor Aman Tuleev, who won a judgment against him.
