Georgia Fears to Lose Adzharia
Georgia’s parliament passed yesterday the resolution on severance of diplomatic relations with Russia. The RF troops in Georgia were declared the troops of occupants and territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia were called the territories of Georgia occupied by Russia.
Russia and Georgia exchanged war prisoners yesterday. Georgia provided 13, including not only Ossetia’s militants but also the ethnic Ossetians condemned for not grievous crimes and serving their sentences in prisons, said Shota Khizanishvili from Georgia’s Foreign Ministry. In return, Ossetia released 85 prisoners of Georgia. Most of them are ethnic Georgians, residents of Georgian villages in South Ossetia detained immediately after or in the course of the military operation, official Tbilisi said. Russia also released 12 soldiers of Georgia that were arrested in Poti a few days ago.

People in Tbilisi claim 12 soldiers of Georgia were exchanged for freedom of General Roman Dumbadze, who was condemned to life imprisonment for treason far back in 2005. Dumbadze is the closest mate of former Adzharia’s head Aslan Abashidze, who was stripped of authority in May of 2004. Then commander of Georgian forces in Adzharia, General Dumbadze disobeyed Saakashvili and brought the troops under the ultimate command of Abashidze.

In today’s Tbilisi, they apprehend that Moscow is orchestrating a new plan for Georgia, eyeing annexation of Adzharia in addition to Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The key figures will be General Dumbadze and Aslan Abashidze, who currently lives in Moscow.
