Officer Betrayed with Georgia
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced yesterday the detention of Russia’s Army officer Mikhail Khachidze in the Stavropol region. Khachidze was arrested on suspected spying for Georgia.
According to FSB, Khachidze was feeding the agents of Georgian intelligence with secret information about Russia’s Armed Forces, their battle readiness as well as with personal data on his fellow-servicemen. A criminal case was opened under Clause 275 (High Treason).

FSB said Khachidze had been hooked in late 2007 in Georgia, where his relatives lived. Officers of Russia's Military Counterintelligence Service arrested him in the evening of August 13, near Pyatigorsk railway station.

Earlier, FSB reported that nine spies of Georgia had been unmasked in the South Federal District. No details were given. For Khachidze’s case, FSB also confined itself to broadcasting detention video by central TV channels.
