Russia Sank 3 Medal Points
China continues to build up the advantage in the Olympic race. They have won nine of 13 gold medals already. As to Russia, we have sunk from the 13th position to the 16th one. It could have been even worse but for the silver of Marina Shainova in the women's weightlifting competition and the bronze of Dmitry Dobroskok and Gleb Galperin in the men’s synchronized platform diving.
In line with all expectations, the Chinese are winning all gold within their grasp. And this agility of hosts affects the number of medals collected by Russia. In the men’s synchronized diving, for instance, Gleb Galperin and Dmitry Dobroskok were practically equal with Yue Lin and Liang Huo of China at first. But the error in the fifth jump deprived them even of silver that went to German Patrick Hausding and Sascha Klein.

The same could be said about Marina Shainova’s silver in the women's 58kg weightlifting competition. China’s Chen Yanqing is the obvious leader in this kind of sport today.

The shooting competitions left Russia without any medals the general practice notwithstanding. The swimming results were no better than the shooting ones. We missed three of four yesterday’s swimming finals. Ex-record breaker Roman Sludnov was the only one to advance to the final (100m breast-stroke), but he had to confine to the seventh position.
