Russia’s Spies Not to Have Dual Citizenship
Russia’s lower house of parliament, State Duma, has given the go-ahead to restrictions for intelligence officers of the country. Under amendments to the Foreign Intelligence Act that the deputies passed in the third reading, Russia’s spies won’t have any dual citizenship, be members of parties or any other political associations, Interfax reported.
Mandatory fingerprinting is another requirement applied to the officers of foreign intelligence. Their number will be determined by the president of Russia, who will also supervise implementation of the federal laws on peculiarities of their service, including provision of allowances, as well as legal and social guarantees granted to intelligence officers and to their families.
The amendments to the Act are yet to be approved by the Federation Council and sealed by the president of Russia.
