Belarus Sets Up Rapid Reaction Force to Fight Moonshiners
The Gomel Region’s Department of Belarus’ Interior Ministry has set up a rapid reaction force to fight local moonshiners, Belarussian News reported.
The rapid reaction force will daily raid the region, be informed by the locals about illegal production and sale of alcohol and respond to it on short notice, BELTA informed.
Fighting hard drinking is one of the key targets of enforcement bodies in 2007, representatives of the local police emphasized. Past year, for instance, the officers discovered 28 mini distilleries in the region that were illegally producing the moonshine and fined 22,000 people for illegal sale of alcohol.
