Frenkel’s Black Information Attributed to Prison Environment
Alexey Frenkel’s statement on alleged corruption of top managers of the Central Bank of Russia (you can read the whole article at Kommersant) is the method of defense, Russia’s Prosecutor General Office reasoned. Frenkel is the banker arrested in Kozlov’s murder. CBR first deputy chairman Andrey Kozlov was fatally shot Sept. 13 and died in the hospital.
“The environment of imprisonment gives rise to some ideas, letters, addresses,” said Deputy Prosecutor General Alexander Buksman. Frenkel could have spoken of the CBR corruption before the arrest, the official specified.

Two months before being arrested on suspected order of Kozlov’s murder, Frenkel prepared an article about corrupt practices in the CBR, blaming involvement in money laundering via the problem banks on it.

The license of Frenkel’s VIP-Bank was revoked in the wake of refusal to cooperate in money laundering, Frenkel explained, giving a raft of examples from open sources instead of providing the definite names.
