Banker Arrested in Kozlov’s Murder Refused Urgent Hospitalization
Basmanny Court of Moscow refused January 15 urgent hospitalization to Alexey Frenkel, who had been detained on suspected ordering the murder of Andrey Kozlov, the late first chairman of the Central Bank of Russia.
Alexey Frenkel complains of very strong heartache, said his lawyer Igor Trunov. “We have lodged a motion for calling an ambulance for Frenkel. He feels bad. The doctors were sent for at night, but they couldn’t provide proper medical assistance in the isolation cell,” the lawyer specified.

Basmanny Court is to rule today on the measure of restraint for Frenkel, who is just the detained yet in terms of formality. The suspect has been provided with the copy of interrogation record of Liana Askerova. Askerova is a suspected intermediary for orchestrating Kozlov’s killing.

First chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, Andrey Kozlov was fatally shot September 13 in the parking lot of Spartak stadium and died in the hospital early September 14. Quite a number of people have been arrested in connection with his murder and the prosecutors are pressing for the arrest of Alexey Frenkel, who purportedly had ordered the crime.

Frenkel denies all accusations, making a point of his innocence.
