Mastermind of Top Banker’s Assassination Finally Detained
Investigators detained late January 10 the person, who is said to have ordered to kill Andrey Kozlov, first deputy chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, RBC reported referring to the RF Prosecutor General Office. The name of the suspect is kept secret in the interests of investigation.
Actual killers of Kozlov were detained past October, and intermediaries were caught in November to December of 2006, representatives of the Prosecutor General Office reminded. Therefore, seven persons have been detained under the case, including the mastermind of the crime.

Russia’s prosecutors reported the crime’s solution December 5, 2006. “A few persons directly related to this crime have been arrested. The case is regarded uncovered,” Prosecutor General Yury Chaika announced.

The late first deputy chairman of the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) Andrey Kozlov was killed September 13, 2006. The banker was shot when leaving Spartak Stadium, where the CBR employees had played football. Kozlov was taken to hospital, where he died without regaining consciousness.

Straight after the killing, the better part of the analysts linked the assassination to professional activities of Kozlov. The investigators probed into that lead as well.
