Sochi Submitted Documents to IOC
The delegation of Sochi resort city of Russia delivered 100 copies of its Application Book to headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) along with the covering letter of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. The documents are to be submitted by all cities bidding for 2014 Winter Olympics.
The delegation of Sochi Mayor Viktor Kolodyazhny, IOC member and four-time Olympic swimming champion Alexander Popov, Sochi 2014 Application Committee General Director Dmitry Chernyshenko and Sochi 2014 Application Committee Board Chairperson Elena Anikina arrived in Lausanne to hand in the documents.
”The book is extremely sound. It meets all requirements of the International Olympic Committee,” RIA Novosti quoted Alexander Popov as saying. “Honestly, I haven’t seen a better book. The chances of Sochi are very strong, so we should take this chance, not miss it.”
In the next effort, the evaluation commission of IOC will visit the bidders. Its tour to Sochi is slated for February 20 to 24 and provides for visits to facilities of mountain and inshore clusters, according to the official web-site of Sochi 2014.
The actual host city of 2014 Winter Olympics will be announced this July in Guatemala. Sochi’s competitors are Austrian Saltsburg and Pyeongchang of South Korea.
