Chrysler Sales Up 6.6% Abroad
Sales of American carmaker Chrysler Group, part of the German-American DaimlerChrysler AG, saw 6.6-percemt growth outside the United States in 2006. That increase came thanks to high demand for the new Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass. Chrysler sold 555,924 automobiles outside the U.S. in 2006.
Sales in Europe were up 20 percent over last year, and in Mexico up 3.3 percent. Sales within the U.S. fell 7 percent, the Associated Press report.
DaimlerChrysler is the fifth largest automaker in the world. It makes Mercedes Benz, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Maybach, Smart and other models.
DaimlerChrysler's net profit for the first nine months of 2006 increased by 41 percent to $3.36 billion, compared to $2.38 last year.
