Legislators Give Food Markets to Russians
Russia’s lower house of parliament, the State Duma, passed in the second and third readings the bill on arranging retail markets’ business. The bill grants to Russians the quota of at least 20 percent on the clothing retail markets and no less than 50 percent on the food markets, lenta.ru reported referring to RIA Novosti.
But according to RBC, the quota of 20 percent for the clothing retail markets was dropped in the second reading.
Russia’s Health and Social Development Minister Mikhail Zurabov said of all vendors, the labor migrants will account for just 40 percent in the first quarter of 2007 and this quota will narrow to zero from April 1, 2007.
It was Russia’s President Vladimir Putin that requested to shape the bills on labor migration by November 1. The cabinet focused on the problem after the riots in Kondopoga.
