326kg of Enriched Uranium En Route to Moscow Region’s Town
Backed up by German authorities, a group of Russia’s experts is delivering 326 kilograms of enriched uranium from German Rossendorf Research Center to a plant of nuclear fuel reprocessing located close to Podolsk-town, the Moscow Region, Russia.
From 300 to 500 policemen were called in to guard the nuclear fuel delivery from Rossendorf to Dresden airport. For reasons of security, no details of the operation, including the route to Russia’s Podolsk, have been disclosed.

The delivery of enriched uranium is supervised by experts of IAEA and NNSA, Reuters reported. It is carried out in line with the Russia’s-U.S. Global Threat Reduction Initiative. In mass, this delivery of nuclear fuel exceeds all previous shipments to Russia carried out since the Initiative’s creation.
