Russian Standard Paid Over $1 Million for Vodka Domains
Owner of Russian Standard Holding, Roustam Tariko, has bought www.vodka.ru and www.vodka.com domains, Vedomosti reported. Though the deal budget hasn’t been unveiled, the analysts estimate it to exceed $1 million.
Among other assets, Russian Standard Holding has a distillery that produces vodka of the same name. The worldwide promotion of this vodka was the key purpose of www.vodka.com acquisition, said representatives of the company. Russian Standard Holding is controlled by Roustam Tariko, whose wealth The Forbes estimates at $1.9 billion.
The previous owner of www.vodka.com was the U.S. Nett Corp., Vedomosti wrote. Of interest is that the site displayed no information related to this alcoholic drink.
Tariko might have paid above $1 million for www.vodka.com, the analysts estimated, reminding that Interbrew purchased www.beer.com for $7 million in 2004.
As to www.vodka.ru, the seller was Art. Lebedev Studio. The site was registered in 1997, Lebedev told Vedomosti. Lebedev said he had been urged to sell by a dozen contenders in the recent years, but “financial component hadn’t been serious.” Lebedev didn’t specify the exact budget of the deal.
