Russia’s Embassy Deprived a Thousand Russians of New Year Holidays
France’s embassy in Moscow has cut off visa provision to the Russians willing to take bus tours to the country during New Year holidays.
The embassy said there were too many applications for the bus tours, so they would grant no visas till New Year, Irina Tyurina, briefer of Russian Tourist Union, said as quoted by Interfax. The measure will affect roughly a thousand of Russians, who have paid for their trips already, Tyurina specified.

The visas to tourists going to France by planes or by trains are still released without restrictions, though the process was terminated in the recent days, representatives of Russian Tourist Union pointed out.

The tourist firms with clients suffered from the actions of French embassy are shaping an appeal to the RF Foreign Ministry to urge it to step in and solve the visa problem, Echo Moskva reported.

Similar difficulties were experienced on the eve of the May holidays, when about a thousand and a half of Russians were unable to get visas because of the strike of the consulate department. The aftereffect was the picket of tourist firms near the embassy.
