Russia’s Proton-M Blasts Off from Baikonur
Proton-M boost rocket carrying Measat-3 of Malaysia blasted off from Baikonur cosmodrome at night from Monday to Tuesday.
Proton-M was launched in time and in line with the schedule, said a spokesman of Roskosmos Space Agency of Russia. “Russian booster with Briz-M upper stage is to put in orbit Measat-3 communication satellite,” the official specified.

Measat-3 will reach the predicted orbit at 11:40 a.m., MSK.

Proton-M with Measat-3 was launched under the contract with Malaysia’s Binariang Satellite Systems and International Launch Services (ILS). ILS is a joint venture promoting Proton boosters worldwide for more than ten years already. Following the withdrawal of Lockheed Martin in September 2006, the remaining founders are Khrunichev Center, Energia RKK Space Rocket Corp. and the U.S.-incorporated Space Transport Inc.
