Breakaway Leader Wins Again
Igor Smirnov, who is today’s leader of the breakaway Transdniestria Republic of Moldova, won the presidential elections there on Sunday, according to the exit polls.
Igor Smirnov was backed up by majority of 63.34 percent voters, said Novy Vek (New Century) Independent Center of Analytical Research. Communist Party’s candidate Nadezhda Bondarenko was the second with 8.54 percent of voters.

The third place was taken by Andrey Safonov, editor of opposition Novaya Gazeta (New Newspaper), who gathered 6.51 percent. Supreme Council’s deputy Pyotr Tomaily was supported by 1.37 percent and 4 percent of electors voted against all.
