Russia’s Prosecutors Come Up with 4 Stories of Kozlov’s Murder
Investigators are looking at four possible versions of the attack on Andrey Kozlov. First deputy chairman of the CBR, Kozlov died yesterday morning after being shot by the gunmen outside a sports stadium, Moscow.
The primary lead is professional activities of the high profile banker, said First Deputy Prosecutor General Alexander Buksman as quoted by RBC. Other versions are just secondary, including the domestic crime and killing by mistake, Buksman pointed out without shedding light on the fourth story.
Two pistols have been found, a gas pistol modified for the ball ammunition and a self-made one, Buksman said. The insulation tape of textile fabric was wrapped around the handles to prevent them from keeping fingerprints or smell. It signals the gunmen were profs, Buskman pointed out.
The crime is investigated by a group of over 30. “They are the best detectives and most top-notch investigators who set to investigating first minutes after the crime was committed,” Buksman specified.
Kozlov killers had a source close to the banker, the investigators say. Though corporate soccer matches are held weekly, Kozlov attended them just occasionally. The attack had been thoroughly masterminded and prepared for at least a few months, the investigators think.
Russia’s Prosecutor General Yury Chaika personally controls the progress in investigation. The prosecutors are checking all contacts and acquaintances of Kozlov in an effort to learn whether he had been threatened. Another concern of investigators is to find out whether Kozlov had clashed with the businessmen.
