IMF Managing Director Condoles with Kozlov’s Family
IMF Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato has offered condolences to the family of Andrey Kozlov, first deputy chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, who was shot by gunmen outside a Moscow sports stadium late Wednesday and died in the hospital yesterday morning.
The top-ranked official of IMF condoled with Kozlov’s family before opening the briefing held within the framework of the annual sittings of IMF and the World Bank in Singapore. Kozlov had been a man of courage, Rodrigo de Rato told the reporters, always aiming at improving the bank system of Russia.

Andrey Kozlov was attacked late Wednesday on Oleniy Val St., Moscow, outside the sports stadium, where he had watched the soccer match. The gunmen fired several times, killing the driver and badly wounding the banker, including in the head. Kozlov was taken to hospital, had the surgery there, which didn’t help though. He died yesterday morning, never regaining the consciousness.

Moscow prosecutors brought in a criminal action under the Clause 105 of the RF Criminal Code (killing two and more people). The investigators are studying all possible versions, including professional activities of Kozlov.
