Cyprus Foreign Minister Urges to Abolish E.U. Visas for Russia
In an interview to the Izvestia newspaper, Cyprus Foreign Minister Gheorgios Lillikas said he hoped the visa procedures with Russia would be abandoned in a few years.
Only quite a few states of the European Union think different, Lillikas said. As to Cyprus, it doesn’t fear the abolishment of visas for the Russians. No visas between Cyprus and Russia were required from 1995 to 2003, and no grave problems emerged in those years, the minister specified.
Meanwhile, Cyprus will endeavor to facilitate the visa procedures for the Russians as much as possible, Lillikas promised, adding the Russians could get the Cyprus visa in less than a day and that some 100,000 tourists from Russia go to Cyprus each year.
