Russia Displays Special Forces Weapons at Eurosatory 2006
Russia presents a wide range of small-arms for Special Forces at the Eurosatory International Exhibition opened today. Amid the exhibits are weapons designed for the Special Counterterrorism Divisions, the country's state arms trader Rosoboronexport reported.
The Eurosatory 2006 presents such arms of Russia's make as Kord large-caliber machine gun, various models of upgraded Kalashnikov submachine guns and a lot of weapons of special purpose.
Of greatest interest are OSV-96 large-caliber sniper rifle and the silent VSK-94 sniper rifle of 9 millimeters.
The assault weapons are represented by SR-1M pistol and SR-2M tommy-gun hitting steel and kevlar helmets, light body armor and cars at the distance of 100 meters. Besides, the visitors are likely to be drawn by the SR-3 Vikhr submachine gun. It was developed for the special 9-millimeter cartridge, known for a small size but great power.
Another center of attention is weapons of combat swimmers. Visitors will see the underwater SPP-1M pistol and the underwater APS submachine gun. The latter has no analog in the world.
