Putin Called Press Freedom Predator
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has been added to Predators of Press Freedom List, which Reporters Without Borders usually compile based on monitoring of over 100 countries worldwide, Echo of Moscow reported.
The list of Predators of Press Freedom gives names of 37 politicians, political and military organizations. The states of the former Soviet Union are represented at large. In addition to Putin, there are Alexander Lukashenko (Belarus), Saparmurat Niyazov (Turkmenistan), Islam Karimov (Uzbekistan) and Nursultan Nazarbaev (Kazakhstan).

Among other predators are Kim Jong-il (North Korea), Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Iran), Fidel Castro (Cuba). Western Europe has just a single predator – ETA group of terrorists, Spain.

The Predators of Press Freedom List is promulgated on May 3, on the Day World Press Freedom.
