The Government to Control the Russian Internet
June 3, Parliament’s Upper Chamber is considering a bill “On the Internet”, member of Information Policy Commission of the Council of Federation Ludmila Narusova told the journalists of Novye Izvestia.
The law must contain the mechanism of bringing to account authors of the sites spreading false information. Besides, the new law envisages creation of a supervision body. Narusova believes it must be a professional council, which will openly and collectively take decisions.

Narusova is also positive about licensing sites. In her opinion, this measure would increase the responsibility factor. Whether the new law envisages licensing, Ludmila Narusova did not specify. The senator hopes that the law “On the Internet” will be introduced to the State Duma as early as next parliamentary year.
