Alexander Mogilny Placed on Waivers by New Jersey
Alexander Mogilny of Russia was waived by New Jersey Devils. The management of that NHL club decided to get rid of top-paying Russian in an effort to maintain the limit of the payroll applied in the NHL starting from this season.
Alexander Mogilny, 36, has posted 25 points under "the goal plus assist" system this year, according to the web-site of New Jersey Devils. Third best shooter of the club, Mogilny has collected 12 goals and 13 assists but failed to record a point in the last six contests.
One of the key players of Devils in 2000 (which won the Stanley Cup then), Mogilny was signed by New Jersey again past August. He posted 473 goals and 559 assists in 990 career games with New Jersey, Buffalo, Vancouver, Toronto.
New Jersey placed Mogilny on waivers once one of its leaders, Czech forward Patric Elias, completely recovered from the malignant hepatitis A.
