Russia to Have New Road Signs from New Year
Russia will have 24 new road signs and 18 varieties of existing signs starting from January 1, 2006, Vladimir Tarasenkov, head of the research department of Interior Ministry’s Traffic Safety Center, said as quoted by RIA Novosti.
“New standards for road signs, traffic lights, road marking, safety fences as well as the rules of their application take effect starting from January 1,” Tarasenkov said, specifying the respective ruling of the government on amending today’s Road Regulations is available already.
The standards include 24 new signs and 18 varieties of existing signs. As to the latter, they will be closer to reality. For instance, today’s sign of the border crossing is shown by a right angle. A new sign will have acute angle in places where the roads cross at that angle.
