FSB: The Arabs Shelter Sh. Basayev Abroad
The Federal Security Bureau (FSB) says one of the most odious Chechen militant Shamil Basayev is currently hiding abroad.
Quite often, Shamil Basayev could be found visiting other countries, from time to time coming back to Chechnya, RBC learnt in the FSB public relations center. He is thoroughly guarded by the Arabian mercenaries, who, if needed, secure a cross-border hide-hole for Russia’s No. 1 terrorist.

Meanwhile, the media reported today Jamaat gang had been liquidated in Dagestan Saturday. According to the FSB, the group entered Dagestan in November 2004, planning a major act of terror, destruction of militia and FSB officers. Rappani Khalilov was the commander.

As announced, it took around 16 hours to do away with the militants. The bandits were hiding in a private house in Makhachkala suburbs. The special operation turned out even more complicated as several 9-floor houses were located nearby. Soldiers and armored carriers were summoned to the place of action. The house was set on fire over the gunplay, so the militants were forced down to the cellar. An Alfa officer was killed, two more wounded during the attack. Then, a tank arrived and served as a cover. Though not a single shot was made from the armored vehicle, it helped destroy the walls of the premises. The operation ended at night with all militants killed.

Only four from five bodies have been identified to-date. Among them is Rasul Makasharipov, the so-called Emir of Dagestan’s Jamaat, whose gang was particularly focused on killing militia officers. 24-year old Makhachkala-resident Shamil Kuramagomedov, nailed on charge for taking part in mass riots, 28-year old Akhmed Osmanov, who served a robbery sentence, and 32-year old Shamil Jamalov, detained by militia for hooliganism, are also among the killed terrorists. It won’t be easy to identify the fifth militant as his body has been severely deformed.
