Russia will Contribute to New Boeing 7E7 Dreamliner
November 17, The Boeing Co. and the Russian Ministry of Industry and Energy signed a memorandum today on cooperation in creating the Boeing 7E7 Dreamliner line of planes. Head of the Boeing press service in Moscow Viktor Anoshkin informed RossBusinessConsulting of this today.
The Ministry of Industry and Energy press service reports that the document foresees contracts worth $2.5 billion being fulfilled in the next five years by Russian aeronautical companies.
Cooperation will be in six primary fields: design; new technology development, taking advantage of the presence of a large number of Russian scientific institutions; resistance testing of construction elements; purchasing of titanium; software support; and design of a Boeing Large Cargo Freighter airplane, to be used for transporting parts of the fuselage of the Boeing 7E7.
Boeing has found preliminary interest in 266 7E7 Dreamliners and has orders for about 60 of them from four airlines. It will be distinguished by its high fuel efficiency and comfort. The development program for it was begun in April of this year. Russian participation was discussed at the Farnsborough airshow. The plane will come in three models, all with the same engine, and carry up to 289 passengers up to 15,700 kilometers.
