Russians Unfriendly to United States, Japan and Germany
October 13, Russians do not like the United States, as is shown by the poll conducted by ROMIR Monitoring. As many as 12 percent of respondents are unfavorably inclined toward the States, 23 percent said their attitude was very negative; 30 percent said they like the United States or like it very much, 34 percent are neutral and just 1 percent failed to express what they felt about the country.
About 60 percent respondents believe the US foreign policy negatively affects Russia. However 12 percent are confident of the opposite and 21 percent find no influence at all, and only 7 percent failed to give a definite answer.

At the same time, 44 and 43 percent believe in the States’ positive role in the struggle against international terrorism and growth of the world economy accordingly. However, 53 percent are certain that the USA only disturbs peace in the world.

Besides, the poll participants were asked to share their opinion of other G7 countries. The answers look like this:

Canada: very negative attitude - 1 percent; quite negative - 3 percent; neutral - 48 percent; quite positive attitude - 35 percent; very positive - 13 percent;

France: very negative attitude - 1 percent; quite negative - 2 percent; neutral - 41 percent; quite positive attitude - 40 percent; very positive - 16 percent;

Great Britain: very negative attitude - 2 percent; quite negative - 5 percent; neutral - 47 percent; quite positive attitude - 33 percent; very positive - 12 percent;

Italy: very negative attitude - 1 percent; quite negative - 3 percent; neutral - 46 percent; quite positive attitude - 35 percent; very positive - 13 percent;

Germany: very negative attitude - 2 percent; quite negative - 6 percent; neutral - 39 percent; quite positive attitude - 37 percent; very positive - 15 percent;

Japan: very negative attitude - 3 percent; quite negative - 7 percent; neutral - 42 percent; quite positive attitude - 32 percent; very positive - 15 percent;

The poll was conducted in August 2004 with participation of 1500 people from 102 towns and villages all over Russia.
