Sergey Ivanov Criticizes NATO
April 6, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov, who is participating in Norfolk-based International Anti-Terror Conference, harshly criticized NATO’s policy in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
“The stabilization operation in Kosovo autonomous territory of Serbia, I’m not afraid to say it directly, is virtually ruined,” – Sergey Ivanov told the journalists. Head of Russian Ministry of Defense said that NATO’s support of Kosovo Albanians in the region created the danger of serious destabilization.
The Russian minister stated also that successful military operation in Afghanistan had not been supported by civil society formation, recovery of Afghan economy and integration of Afghan society into world processes, as a result of which instability was still present in the country. Ceaseless struggle against drug-dealers at the Tajik-Afghan frontier was also the consequence, Gazeta.ru reports Ivanov as saying.
