An Attempt Made on the Life of Ingush President Murat Zyazikov
April 6, An attempt on the life of President Murat Zyazikov of the Republic of Ingushetia has been made, ITAR-TASS reports. The agency reports that head of the republic was not hurt.
The terror attack was made by a suicide bomber, according to the acting prosecutor of Ingushetia Umarbeck Galaev. The attack was staged on the Nazran-Magas highway at about 09.45 Moscow time. As the president’s motorcade was passing by on the way to his office, a VAZ-2107 car that had been parked at the side of the road, started forming up with president’s Mercedes. President’s security car blocked the 2107 and it was at this moment that the suicide-bomber initiated an explosion. Six of the president’s guards were wounded. The explosion was so strong that it damaged several cars and the roofs of the nearby houses were blown off. However, the president was not harmed. Criminal case has been opened, and a group of investigators is already working at the scene of the incident.

Murat Zyazikov blames “forces that are trying to destabilize the situation in Northern Caucasus and Ingushetia”. “These forces don’t like positive processes in the Caucasus and they’re trying to do their best to frustrate them, using acts of terror and assaults,” – he explained over the telephone to ITAR-TASS.
