Maskadov’s Security Chief Surrenders
April 2, The chief of Asland Maskhadov’s security Shaa Turlayev surrendered to federal forces in Chechnya. He turned himself it at the village of Gansol-Chu of Nozha-Yurt District.
At present Turlayev is being checked as to his implication to serious crimes, Gazeta.ru reports.
The prosecutor’s office of Chechnya has amnestied 20 members of rebel groups, who voluntarily laid down their arms, since the beginning of this year.
“Criminal cases against 20 people have been stopped in January and February alone,” ITAR-TASS quotes its source in prosecutor’s office as saying. “They registered voluntary surrender and voluntarily gave up their arms or showed places of arms caches,” the source said.
