Russia-Belarus Parliamentary Session Opens in Moscow
March 25, The 25th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Russia and Belarus opened in Moscow today. The main issue on the agenda is the endorsement of the Union State's budget for the current year, said Boris Gryzlov, chairman of the Russian State Duma and of the Parliamentary Assembly, RIA Novosti reports.
The draft budget equals 2.65 billion Russian rubles (about $93 million), 1.6 billion is provided by Russia and 0.86 billion by Belarus.
The two countries' MPs are also to discuss the results of the Assembly's international activities in 2003 and plans for 2004. They are also expected to adopt a statement concerning the recent outbreak of Albanian extremism in Kosovo.
