Moscow Metro to Have More Cameras and Less Homeless
March 24, Moscow Metro management has taken a decision to set video cameras in metro vehicles in 2004, which is supposed to improve safety in the subway. The Metro has also started a struggle to reduce the number of the homeless (“bomzh”) living in the metro.
At present only stations and tunnels are equipped with cameras. After Feb. 6 act of terror at Avtozavodskaya metro station, it was decided to increase the number of cameras.
As to the bomzhes, some thousand militia, private security and metro workers have been involved to detect and send them away, Gazeta.ru reports.
