Informing on Illegal Migrants May Become a Profitable Business
October 8, The new registration bill may soon be supplemented with a new clause on financial incentive for people to inform the authorities on their illegal neighbors. The amendment has been initiated by Chairman of the Duma Constitutional Legislation Committee Vladimir Pligin, Gzt.ru reports.
The amendment is also aimed at making residence registration a simpler procedure. Registration is proposed to take several hours instead of three days, and it will be enough for a visitor to show a copy of his passport for identification. The Duma wants to toughen control over the unregistered persons.
Let us remind you that last week deputies passed a bill, increasing penalties for both illegal migrants and their hosts and employers.
Besides, starting September this year, socially active citizens may jointly with police officers inspect apartments if they suspect any illegal migrants there.
