Chechen Government to Follow in Federal Government’s Steps
March 18, Chechen President Akhmat Kadyrov has introduced Sergei Abramov, the new premier to the Government of Chechen Republic. He also spoke of embezzlement of the money directed to the republic from federal budget.
The new government Prime Minister said he valued the work of the present Government very high but at the same time stated that after the Federal Government reform, personnel and structural changes in the republic’s cabinet are “virtually inevitable”.

Sergei Abramov was optimistic about the prospects of social and economic recovery of Chechnya and hoped the new government would help him in that. The new premier did not answer the journalists’ question whether he would bring his family to Chechnya. Though the day before he had promised to bring his wife to Grozny’s central maternity hospital to give birth to the new baby after the hospital is fully restored.

During the introduction of the new premier, the Chechen President Akhmat Kadyrov also declared that in his opinion most of the money directed from the federal budget was simply being embezzled. He said he “applied to RF Accounts Chamber for the objective appraisal of what was going on in the federal program.” “There are a lot of questions, - Republic’s head noted, - very large money write-offs, in other words large sums embezzlements, that amount to hundreds of millions of rubles. I believe we have to make every effort to change the situation for the better and to start working for the people, not against it.”
