Rescue Operation is Over in Arkhangelsk
March 18, dismantling of debris has been completed at the site of apartment house explosion in Arkhangelsk. Operations group of Ministry of Emergencies of Russia headed by First Deputy Minister Yury Vorobyev has left for Moscow.
During the search and rescue operation 56 dead bodies including 9 children aged 3 to 15 were found in the debris of exploded section of the house, ITAR-TASS reports. Moreover, 2 women died in the city hospitals. Among the dead there are 30 women and 19 men. Nine people still remain in hospitals, 5 of them are in a critical state. On the whole the death-roll amounts to 58 people.

Around 3:30 a.m., Moscow time, on Tuesday morning, the section of the nine-storey apartment house in Oktyabrsky district of Arkhangelsk, 120, Soviet Cosmonauts Street, was destroyed in what was presumably a natural gas explosion.
