Putin Announces New Composition of the Government
The only post of Vice Premier has been given to the State Duma Vice-Speaker Alexander Zhukov.
Out of former ministers the portfolio remains with: Sergei Shoigu (Ministry of Emergencies), German Gref (Ministry of Economic Development), Aleksei Kudrin (Ministry of Finance), Sergei Ivanov (Ministry of Defence), Aleksei Gordeev (Ministry of Agriculture) and Yury Chaika (Ministry of Justice).
Shufflings:
Former Vice-Premier Viktor Khristenko has been appointed Minister of Industry and Energy, which will take over the functions of Ministry for Atomic Energy and State Committee for Construction.
Former head of RF Pension Fund Mikhail Zurabov has been appointed head of the Ministry of Health and Social Development. Former Vice-Premier Galina Karelova has become his assistant.
Former Russian representative in the UN Sergei Lavrov has been appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs. His predecessor Igor Ivanov has replaced Vladimir Rushailo at the post of Secretary of RF Security Council.
The Ministry of the Interior is now headed by Rashid Nurgaliev, who has acted as Minister since December 2003, after its former head Boris Gryzlov had been elected into the State Duma.
Former Deputy Head of Presidential Administration Dmitry Kozak has gotten the post of Head of Ministerial Department and the rank of Federal Minister.
The portfolio has been lost by: Mikhail Shvydkoi, head of the renewed Ministry of Culture (now with the functions of Ministry of Press) is Aleksander Sokolov now.
The president also appointed new Minister of Transport Igor Levitin.
The Ministry of Education and Science shall be headed by Andrei Fursenko. Head of the Ministry of Nature is the former Governor of Perm Region, Yury Trutnev.
