Russians to be Kept in Qatar for a Month
March 5, ITAR-TASS reports that Qatari officials have prolonged the detention term for the two Russians arrested on suspicion of Zelimkhan Yandarbiev's murder for one more month.
It is worth noting that after security agents had been arrested, the Russian consul was allowed to see his nationals only twice. Under the circumstances Russia continues to take active steps to defend its citizens. The ambassador of Qatar will possibly be called to RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MID) again today.
According to the agency's diplomatic sourse in Moscow, the Russian party has made a request to Qatari authorities to conduct medical examination of the detainees. "However, there's no clear consent on Qatar's part so far. Russia continues to carry on negotiations with Qatar regarding Russian detainees' release. Settling the situation is still possible," - the sourse mentioned.
