Alsu to Sing Chelsea Anthem for £ 10 Thousand
August 19, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has found a singer for the team’s new anthem. According to Show Business News it is the popular Russian singer Alsu, who agreed to do that for £ 10 thousand (about $16 thousand).
Earlier, Abramovich offered the anthem to Leningrad, but leader of the notorious band Sergey Shnurov refused to sing it. It is not yet known, who is to compose the music and the text.
No contract has yet been signed, Alsu’s spokesman Vadim Baikov noted, one should not make a sensation out of it.
Whether the club’s old fans will like the new anthem is not clear. The old unofficial one “Blue is a color” has existed for tens of years and the English are known for their conservatism. But taking into account that Chelsea’s fans have recently sung much of “Kalinka”, they may as well like still another Russian novelty.
