New Structure of the Federal Executive Bodies*
March 9, 2004 President Vladimir Putin signed the decree “On the System and Structure of Federal Executive Bodies”. He emphasized that the new compact cabinet was the “result of administrative reform.” The new structure is represented in the table.

* In his decree “On Matters of the Federal Executive Bodies” as of May 20, 2004, RF President divided the Ministry of Transport and Communications into the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of IT and Communications, with Federal Communications Supervision Service under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of IT and Communications.
The President also established Federal Hydrometeorology and Environment Monitoring Service headed by the RF Government; Federal Media Law Compliance Supervision and Cultural Heritage Protection Service within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture and Information, handing over the function of mass media registration to it; Federal Geodesy and Cartography Agency under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport; Federal IT Agency under the Ministry of IT and Communications.
The decree also transformed Federal Technology Supervision Service and Federal Atomic Supervision Service to Federal Ecology, Technology and Atomic Supervision Service, headed by RF Government.
Federal Tariff Service, Federal Government Statistics Service, Federal Space Agency, Federal Atomic Energy Agency will pass under the jurisdiction of RF Government.
The President also transformed Federal Technical Regulation and Metrology Service to Federal Technical Regulation and Metrology Agency under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Industry and Energy; Federal Environmental and Nature Management Supervision Service to Federal Nature Management Supervision Service, handing over its functions of ecology supervision to Federal Ecology, Technology and Atomic Supervision Service; Federal Science Agency to Federal Science and Innovations Agency.
