United Russia Urges Banks to Help Unemployed
Russia’s ruling United Russia intends to call on the banks not to demand credit payments from unemployed for a year, Interfax reported.
Members of United Russia (that has the majority in the lower house of the RF parliament, the State Duma) intend to call on the banks to freeze for a year the payment demand for the credits granted to individuals that lost their jobs, Interfax reported.
“The party suggests freezing for a year all payments under the credits, together with interest. It relates to the citizens that have lost their jobs and are unable to pay. It is the year’s moratorium,” United Russia’s General Council Presidium First Deputy Secretary Andrei Isaev announced at the news conference in Moscow.
The party’s spokesmen will meet with representatives of the banking community to deliberate on the issue, Isaev specified.
One of the party’s proposals, Isaev went on, is to create an Employment Center that will be re-training people. This initiative appears particularly vital given the current situation on the labor market, the official said.
