United Russia Amended Its Charter
The 10th Congress of United Russia has amended the Charter today, November 20, 2008. The party’s leader is Russia’s PM Vladimir Putin and United Russia has majority in the RF parliament.
United Russia’s Congress voted today for amending admission procedures to the party. From now on, a candidate may join the party provided he/she is through the six-month trial period as “the party’s supporter” and passes the interview held after probation. The basic criteria will be active participation in the party’s life and recommendation of the Party Follower Council.
Another change is the voluntary payment of party’s fees.
Also today, United Russia has shorted its name, crossing All-Russian word-combination out of it. But the Congress has adjusted to United Russia Party only the short version of the title, while the full name – All-Russian Political Party UNITED RUSSIA – has survived intact.
What’s more, from now on, leaders of federal, regional, local and primary structures of the party won’t be able to take office longer than for two straight terms.
